Staff Sergeant Jeromiah Platt, Army
I am a military brat, born in Germany, but call Colorado home. I joined the Army in 2002 as a wheeled vehicle mechanic. I have deployed to Iraq 3 times and Afghanistan once for a total of 51 months downrange. While in Afghanistan in 2011 I was hit by 2 Improvised Explosive Devices on 2 separate occasions, one in April and one in June. I sustained a traumatic brain injury (TBI), and a back injury during the second blast and have been undergoing various treatment ever since. I heard about 185 for Heroes from a co-worker David Brown who told me how great of a program it is and encouraged me to join the team as well. Due to my injuries I can no longer run, which is why I am doing the bike support instead of running. I look forward to supporting this great cause and giving back to the warriors who received far worse injuries than myself.
