Armando Ybarra was wounded in the Oct 1983 terrorist truck-bombing of the Marine Barracks in Beirut, Lebanon. Hours after the bombing, Armando was finally pulled from all of the wreckage of the building. He sustained massive wounds to his right leg, injuries that resulted in his being medically retired back home in Austin. He received the purple heart for his service.
